Traditionaly, technical literature has included this breed in a group with Ojinegra Sheep from Teruel. (www.gratisweb.com/serranasoriana/razas_sorianas.htm)
Adaptability to specific environment
Strong walkers. Adapted to poor pastures and grazing in harsh and arid conditions.
Specific resistance or tolerance
High rusticity. Resistence to the shortfall of feed, and the weight lost is quickly recovered when conditions are better
Specific reproductive characteristic
Excellent maternal ability. Ewes crossed whith type beef males. Lambing/year: 1.5. Lambing rate: 110- 140%.
Special characteristic of product
As ewes are good milkers it guarantees high quality suckling lambs.
Other special qualities
Strong herd instinct. Well adapted to harsh environments.
Color comments
White whit black around eyes, on ear tips, muzzle and the end part of feet; rarely brown. Semi-open fleece. Pure breed animals have to had uniformed pigmentation of the black areas.
