This sheep breed can be easily determined, because of the characteristic yellow – brown face, ears and legs, by which it named “yellow-face”.

The most important advantages of this breed are good resistance and excellent adaptability to very hot climate in the breeding area.

The breeding area of Zuja is very limited, only flat area in south part of Montenegro around of Podgorica (Zetsko – Bjelopavlicka plain and basin of Skadars' lake).

The most dominant color of wool is white, but there are 5-10 % of heads are gray or black colored. Face, fore legs and ears covered by white hair with more or less black or dark spots. Some heads (jezerski variety) has whole face blac colored.
