Description
The Casertana is a small sized breed, of solid dark grey color. Two characteristics make the breed quite unique: it is generally hairless and it carries wattles.

Always considered as a 'gentle' breed, since Roman times its use was reccomended only in areas with mild climate (Columella, De Re Rustica, Book VII, Chapt.IX, I Cent.A.D).

Description of origin
Of very ancient origin, It would derive from the crossing of the domestic pig with the Indian one, or it would belong to the so-called Romanesque breed widespread in North Africa, Portugal, Spain, Italy and southwestern France.
