In the western Bhutan the breed is called Bajo while in eastern Bhutan it is called Goleng. The Goleng / Bajo look alike and are historically from the same origin. Real breed studies are lacking and they are not specified in the census data.

Description of origin
The origin of goleng is from the place of domestication along the silk road to Tibet and Mongolia.They came in ancient times over the highiest himalayan ridges to the southern slopes of Bhutan but remained at high altitude areas of Bhutan.
Location within country
particularly found at high altitude in the dzongkhags of Thimphu,Wangdue , Gasa and Bumthang.
