Description of origin
According to Mason (1988) it is a Sanga breed. The FAO Breed Survey contact classified Nilotic as a Longhorn Zebu. As the hump is on the chest rather than on the neck, the breed is considered as Longhorn Zebu rather than a Sanga breed.
