These birds are known for their high reproduction rate and very good hatchability rate. Egg mass (g) at the age of 33 weeks: 55, at the age of 53 weeks - 60. The age of sexual maturity: 30% of laying rate -159 days, 50% of laying rate -171 days.

Leghorn derives from Italy. They were imported to the United Kingdom in 1870 and distributed to the rest of European countries. They were imported to Poland in 1967 from English Sykes Company.
