Additional information comments
In the 1950's and 1960's, the Sahiwal was used in crossbreeding with local breeds. Subsequently it was used as a foundation breed in the development of the Mafriwal.

The animals are reported to show resistance to tick borne diseases.

This is an excellent zebu dairy breed.

Excellent in crossbreeding with temperate breeds such as the Holstein, to produce a tropically well-adapted yet high producing dairy animal.

Used as a foundation breed in the development of the Malaysian Friesian Sahiwal (Mafriwal) cattle breed. Nucleus herd of Mafriwal in Kluang, Johore. Other Mafriwal animals distributed throughout Peninsular Malaysia.
