The population of pure Local Indian Dairy is decreasing due to its very poor milk production compared to Dairy Crossbred cattle.

Description of origin
The LID breed is of mixed ancestry. Indian migrants brought Hallikar, Ongole and Kankrej from South India during the early part of the 20th century. The random intercrossing of these breeds has resulted in the LID breed.
